Recipe 5 (optional module)

.......to use leftover ingredients from last month

GINGER CREAMS

1/4 cup shortening (or margarine)
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup molasses
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon soda (I assume that this is baking soda)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 cup water

Cream together shortening and sugar; beat in egg. Stir in molasses. Sift in
dry ingredients; add alternately with water. Drop from teaspoon onto
greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 about 8 minutes. Frost with confectioners
icing (two different recipe options below).

CONFECTIONER'S ICING (two options)
Hard icing: Mix together 1 cup confectioner's sugar & 1 teaspoon vanilla;
add 1 teaspoon of water at a time to get the desired thickness to spread
the frosting.
Soft Icing: Mix together 1 cup confectioner's sugar, 2 tablespoons cream &
1 teaspoon vanilla.
